Charity often addresses the symptoms of poverty, but opportunity addresses the cause. When we treat youth as “projects” to be helped, we inadvertently strip them of agency. Instead, the focus should shift toward creating robust economic pipelines where young people can earn their place. By investing in accessible job markets and fair hiring practices, we move from a mindset of “giving” to a mindset of “empowering.”

True empowerment happens when a young person is viewed as an asset rather than a liability. When businesses stop looking for ways to “donate” and start looking for ways to “onboard,” they tap into a fresh, innovative labor pool. This approach fosters self-reliance and dignity, proving that a paycheck earned through talent is a far more sustainable tool for growth than a one-time handout.
